Joystick installation for iCade - tough jlf clone removal of gate and nuts

Sanwa JLF-TP-8Y-SK Joystick (No Plate Installed)

Q: Right now I am having trouble trying to figure out how to mount this thing to the iCade. When I remove the gate and the switches from the joystick, I can see that the mounting screws that is used on the iCade would probably need some kind of nut. Would you be able to tell me how to mount this joystick to the Ion iCade for iPad? . I read on a forum that said you had to get the hex nuts out of the original iCade joystick. I tried removing the clear plastic gate on the iCade joystick but it seems that it may be glued to the four prongs that are holding it in place. Do you have any suggestions on how to get past this? It seems really stuck on there and that the only way to get it open may be to crack some plastic pieces of or something. The guy on the forum also mentioned the hex nuts were also glued into the holes but I haven't even gotten there yet. I am also willing to buy these hex nuts if you think a hardware store would carry it.

A: You will need to remove the Gate and PCB of the JLF to get to the main body. Use the screws provided by iCade in the original stick (you may need to dissemble that one to get those screws out. use the top screws to screw inside the opposite side of the holes inside the jlf body a little then once they get a bite of the nut inside the old jlf, pull the screw in the nut out with pliers.) and use the original screws to mount the JLF body.

The Madcatz SE/Brawstick is the same thing, that gate feels like it is molded. It can come off, here's a video for your situation.
