While not a common question, a customer recently asked for the diameter of a Sanwa JLF shaft cover.
The shaft cover is the cylindrical portion of a shaft and dustcover set, an accessory part of most Japanese model joysticks. It protects the metal shaft from most elements, as does the dustwasher protect against dust particles getting into the lever's pivot.
The shaft cover diameter is 11.6 millimeters (mm) or .45 inches at top, and tapers to 12.3mm or .48 inches at bottom when measured with a digital caliper.
Another question - likely for budding designers looking to make their own - is the height, inner diameter and actual thickness of the shaft:
- Height is 34.95mm
- Inner diameter is 9.10mm
- Shaft thickness is 1.3mm at top and 1.7mm at bottom.
The black dustwasher - most common with the Sanwa JLF-CD Shaft & Dustwasher Set is 38 millimeters or 1.49 inches.
