What kind of battery does the CPS2 B Board use?

Q: I need to service the battery in one or more of my CPS2 B boards. What kind of battery do I need?

A: CPS2 systems use half size AA axial lithium batteries rated for 3.6 volts. They look like this:

These batteries can be found in some local stores and in a lot of online shops. While this knowledge base entry does not go into the actual procedure of replacing the battery, please be advised that once you remove the original battery you are on a time limit to replace it, roughly 30-45 minutes. Any longer and you risk losing critical data that allows the board to function.
